Quality Control
The main reason it took so long to properly advertise these boards after manufacturing was the time taken to quality control. Here were the major steps taken:
1. Initial pass looking over boards in natural light looking for any noticeable flaws such as chips, mis-anodization, scratches, improper CNC cuts etc.
2. After sending out some initial boards for feedback it was noticed that for one board there was a screw hole in the case that was not properly engaging with the screw. The second pass was checking tightness of screws in the cases.
3. The third and final pass was an intentional viewing of the boards under bright harsh white light to find any inconsistencies. This was where majority of the B-stock goods were identified.
All boards listed as B-stock were a result of anodization and visual flaws and play no part in the practical function of the keyboard. They are almost all underneath the keyboard as well and would not be noticed during normal operation.
